Las Vegas se permet toujours un tour d'horizon de la ligue afin de dresser un portrait des forces et faiblesses ainsi que des projections en vue de la saison à venir. Le tout se veut un article visant clairement à écoeurer tout le monde sur leurs points faible... un plaisir immense qu'a pris Vegas au cours des dernières années.
Nous débutons cela par la Division Nord.
Toronto :
De loin la meilleure équipe de cette division. Les leafs peuvent surfer sur les acquisitions de l'an dernier afin d'être l'une des forcesd de la ligue cette année. Espérons pour Jo que la chimie s'installe dans son vestiaire contrairement à l'an passé ou tout à fait pouette pouette en playoffs. La brigade défensice est la meilleure cuvée de la LDVP, la présence des Hedman, Fox et Carlson n'ont pas leur égal dans aucune autre équipe. Avec une attaque bien balancé entre le punch offensif et de bons attaquants défensif, Toronto peut également compter sur un gardien de bon qualibre en Saros.
Ottawa :
Est-ce que les Draistl et Pasternak seront assez fort pour soutenir cette équipe toute l'année ? Ottawa possède un bon noyau de jeune dans la mi-vingtaine avec les Ehlers, Nylander et Reinhart, nous attendons cependant toujours que ceux-ci deviennent dominant et payant avec des bonnes quotes permettant de gagner beaucoup de match. La défensive poreuse des Sénateurs ne promets rien de grandiose à court terme, les Karlsson et Ekman-Larsson ayant de loin passer leurs jours de gloire. Ottawa devra trancher sur son futur, être un éternel moyen, vendre pour performer ou vendre pour reconstruire autour de son jeune noyau ??? DG Oellet devra y mettre ses couilles s'il désire de vrais résultats.
Boston :
Un été plutôt actif pour Boston qui aura complété plusieurs échanges dans les derniers mois en plus d'avoir mis la main sur les 3e et 4e choix du dernier repêchage. L'ajout des très prometteur Kent Johnsson et William Eklund offre un début d'avenir prometteur aux Bruins. Les plans d'équipes semblent avoir changer souvent de direction dans les dernières années , passant de reconstruction à acquisition de joueurs au futur incertain pour gagner dans l'immédiat. Boston a dailleurs acquis Palat et Killorn en échange de Pavelski, pour ensuite envoyer Killorn à Pittsburgh en échange de Tuuka Rask qui ne jouera probablement plus jamais dans la ligue. La retraite de Kreicji et la retraite iminente de Jeff Carter vont dailleurs créer un trou important dans l'alignement, il est fort à parier que Boston sera vendeur cette année afin de reconstruire par le repêchage.
Québec :
Les Nordiques ont connu leur meilleure saison sous la gouverne de leur DG Mike. Ils sont demeuré toute la saison dans le top4 de la ligue et était à quelques ajouts d'avoir l'espoir de pouvoir passer par dessus Pittsburgh pour se rendre en finale. Cette vague d'optimisme chez les partisants s'est malheureusement essouflé lorsque l'équipe n'aura fait qu'un échange mineur pour aller chercher Ben Charriot. L'alignement du Fleur de Lysé à par la suite perdu beaucoup de lustre pendant l'été suite aux performances moins étincellantes de ses joueurs. Le départ de Shea Webber va avoir un impact notable dans le vestiaire l'an prohain et cette mince opportunité de gagner la coupe ne reviendra pas par elle même si l'équipe ne mise que sur la patience pour obtenir l'équipe parfaite, l'histoire ayant montré au fil des ans que ce sont les DG actifs qui finissent par gagner. Québec mise tout de même sur quelques prospects intéressant en Moriztz Seider , Victor Soderstrom et Yaroslav Askarov en plus d'un noyau de jeune intéressant en Barzal, Dahlin, Derincat et Hischier.
Montréal :
Une équipe qui suscite quelques question pour ses plans à court terme. Le long terme risque d'être intéressant à Montréal, particulièrement la brigade défensive qui est de loin l'un des meilleur groupe de jeunes joueurs prometteurs à cette position. Les DeAngello, Hronek, Dobson, Smith seront bientôt rejoint par les deux récent choix du Draft en Owen Power et Luke Hughes. L'attaque possède aussi quelques joueurs dont nous attendons l'éclosion promise depuis longtemps par les experts. Les Tipett, Foudy, Kravtsov sont au coeur de cette reconstruction par la jeunesse. Montréal semble cependant tanné de sa reconstruction et a décidé d'ajouter du bois mort à son noyau qui était déjà bien garnie de bois mort. C'est ainsi que les Spezza , Soderberg, Brassard vont voir arriver les Bozak et Benn acquis avant le draft contre entre autre le 26e choix total de l'encan, un signe comme quoi Montréal semble vouloir sacrifier sa jeunesse pour essayer de gagner ou être compétitif. À noter que leur duo de gardien sort de l'ordinaire avec les vieux cerbères Mike Smith et Pekka Rinne. L'ajout au draft de Kevin Lankinen laisse entrevoir un possible échange , le commissaire ne s'est pas gêné au Draft pour souligner son intérêt envers Mike Smith. Mais cela ne ferait pas de sens pour Montréal de s'en départir après avoir sacrifier de la jeunesse pour obtenir Benn.
La division Nord devrait être sans trop de problème dominée par Toronto cette année, à moins que Ottawa ou Québec décident de passer à l'action.
