Leblond devra prendra une décision sur la direction de sa formation!
Après un début de saison prometteur et une fiche de 11-2-1 à ses treize premiers matchs, la domination des Leafs a frappé un mur lors de la blessure au défenseur étoile John Carlson. La blessure lui aura fait manquer plus d’un mois d’activité et aura contribué stopper la progression de la formation de Jim Montgomery. Malgré le retour du défenseur offensif, la formation ontarienne est incapable d’enfiler les victoires de façon convaincante.
Contrairement à ce à quoi les Leafs nous ont habitué dans les dernières année, l’offensive produit à un rythme effréné, Elias Pettersson trônant au sommet des pointeurs du circuit Rousseau. Défensivement, la cohésion est difficile et il y a du travail à faire si Toronto souhaite aspirer aux grands honneurs.
Les rumeurs s’intensifient à l’effet que, depuis quelques jours, le DG des Leafs évaluent plusieurs scénarios. D’un côté, Toronto voudrait ajouter un peu de défensive à son bottom 6 et serait prêt à se départir de choix / jeunes joueurs de l’organisation pour y parvenir. Il aurait d’ailleurs déjà commencé à tendre quelques perches de ce côté!
De l’autre, Leblond évalue la possibilité de construire une puissance en vue de la prochaine saison. De ce côté également, des discussions seraient déjà amorcées.
Avec Horvat, Barzal, Pettersson, Hedman, McCann, Arvidsson et Hakanpaa qui sont tous à signer en vue de la prochaine saison, les discussions préliminaires avec ces potentiels futurs agents libres pourraient avoir un impact déterminant sur la direction que prendra la formation torontoise au cours des prochaines semaines!
