À quelques jours du Draft 2021 de la LDVP, je me suis amusé à regarder le fichier des années précédentes et d'y constater à quel point les processus de sélection sont autant imparfait dans la NHL que dans la LDVP.
Tous les ans j'entend Ghys dire sa fameuse phrase comme quoi "Les gars font pas confiance aux experts de la NHL".
Les stratégies diffèrent d'un DG à l'autre mais des tendances se maintiennent depuis que j'ai moi-même joint la ligue au cours de la saison 2017 avant d'effectuer mon premier Draft en 2018.
Le Draft 2017 en est dailleurs un qui méritent de relever des éléments de cette science imparfaite.

Ce qui est amusant de constater pour la LDVP est a quel point cet ordre aura été encore plus chaotique. Particulièrement dans le cas de Elias Petterson, les DG de la LDVP ayant simplement décisé d'ignorer complètement le 5e choix total avant Jonathan Leblond réalise un coup fumant en le prenant au 25e rang. Nous pourrions ainsi dire que Jonathan est un génie, mais en analysant le draft ont constate que Jo avait pourtant pris le temps de sélectionner Christian Djoos (19e) et Jake Dutchin(20e) avant de prendre Petterson quelques rang plus loin, donc pardonnez-moi de ne pas mettre Jonathan sur un trop gros pied d'estale dans ce cas-ci...
Ce Draft comme bien d'autre est souvent aussi chamboulé par la sélection de joueur non-assignés qui viennent passer devant les autres, le fin flair de Monsieur le Président cette année là lui a permis de sélectionner Jake Guentzel au premier rang et ce fut une excellent décision voyant que ce dernier aura produit 257 pts en 299 matchs depuis son entrée en carrière alors que Petterson et Hischier auront fait autour de 150 pts pour la même période. D'autres joueurs d'expérience se sont aussi greffé à ce Draft, moins fructueux cependant, JP doit encore regretter la sélection de Will Butcher au 6e rang ou de Joël Edmunsun au 17e rang , surtout que Nick Suzuki et Petterson étaient toujours disponible... Gros année de Gaffes Draft pour Ottawa cette année là.
La constance des années nous fait voir que la première ronde LDVP respecte majoritairement la 1ère ronde NHL en y ajoutant quelques joueurs plus agées qui semblaient être des valeurs certaine. Il n'est pas rare non plus de voir un ou deux choix de première ronde NHL être toujours disponible au début de la première ronde LDVP.
Comme Richard le mentionnait récemment, les 3e-4e-5e ronde sont souvent des Longues Shot.
2017 n'y a pas fait exception et quelques gros noms y sont apparu tardivement, preuve que le tout demeure un Art Imparfait basé sur une évaluationd'un potentiel de développement.
D'ici là bonne préparation à tous pour cette classique annuelle et bien hâte de voir dans 3-4 ans qui l'aura échappé solide....
